Coachella 2026 Unveils Immersive Installations Exploring Light and Monumentality
The 25th edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival returns to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, from April 10–12 and April 17–19, 2026, featuring over 130 artists and a large-scale art program. Presented by Public Art Company (PAC) and curated by founder Raffi Lehrer alongside Goldenvoice art director Paul Clemente, the selection emphasizes monumentality through luminosity, transparency, and lightness. New temporary commissions include Maze by Sabine Marcelis—a labyrinth of inflated PVC arches shifting from pale yellow to deep red, offering shade by day and glowing illumination at night; Starry Eyes by Kyriakos Chatziparaskevas—a constellation of barrel cactus-inspired structures with star-shaped oculi framing the sky, reaching nearly 12 meters tall; and Visage Brut by The LADG (Andrew Holder and Claus Benjamin Freyinger)—a steel monolith of modular boxes with anthropomorphic characters, fabricated with software-assisted manufacturer Stud-IOConstruction. Returning installation Network Operations by Dedo Vabo continues his Hippo Empire series. Six permanent works remain embedded in the Coachella Valley: Sarbalé Ke by Francis Kéré (2021), Etherea by Edoardo Tresoldi (2018), Colossal Cacti by Andrew Kovacs (2022), The Messengers by Kumkum Fernando (2023), Monarchs: A House in Six Parts by studio HANNAH (2024), and Mutts by Oana Stănescu (2022).
