Cloudflare launches Kitesurf, a browser built for AI agents

Cloudflare has introduced Kitesurf, a new cloud-based browser designed specifically for AI agents instead of people. This browser focuses on aspects like context windows, performance, token expenses, and scalability, avoiding traditional visual elements such as themes and extensions. It also addresses certain security vulnerabilities, including prompt injection attacks. Created in just 12 weeks, Kitesurf runs on Cloudflare's serverless platform, Workers, and is available for free in beta through Browser Run, allowing developers to control headless browser instances programmatically. Utilizing components like Blitz's rendering engine and Firefox's Stylo CSS parser, Kitesurf is inspired by the Rust-based headless engine Obscura. Cloudflare claims it uses CPU and memory more efficiently than Chromium for typical tasks, having completed over 215,000 web platform tests.
