Clinique Dentaire Des Cimes: Sustainable Dental Clinic in Val-David
CARTA architecte + designer has completed the Clinique Dentaire Des Cimes, a sustainable dental and implantology clinic in Val-David, Quebec, 80 km north of Montreal. The two-story building preserves existing forest cover and minimizes topographic impact by using a slab foundation without a basement. Materials include natural cedar, stone, and metal, evoking Nordic climate. The large gabled roof integrates like a tree canopy, while articulated volumes allow vegetation to intertwine. Large dormers at tree-line height enhance natural connection, and wide eaves protect walkways. Storefronts display local artworks, honoring Val-David's artistic identity. Interior spaces are organized around light and views: reception and waiting rooms face south for sunlight, treatment rooms face north for tranquil green views. The clinic embodies a person-centered, sensitive, and sustainable approach.
