Climatica: A New Exhibition Cycle on Climate Change Launches in Bologna

Curator Gabriele Tosi (Pistoia, 1987) has launched Climatica, a new exhibition program at Alchemilla in Palazzo Vizzani, Bologna, exploring the relationship between individual and collective dimensions, domestic space, and global climate systems. The program is a collaboration between Toast Project (Florence) and Alchemilla, an association that operates in a domestic-style space rather than a white cube gallery. The first exhibition, In Our Real Life, is a solo show by Dutch artist Jason Hendrik Hansma (Lahore, 1988), opening during ART CITY Bologna 2025 (February 5-9, 2025). It features two videos: Waves, compiling amateur footage of storm surges with a soundtrack by Kelman Duran, and Embers, juxtaposing wildfire videos with a remix of Rihanna's 'Close to You' (2016) by Belgian DJ Ssaliva. The works depict moments when external forces (weather, climate, nature) breach internal spaces (architecture, urbanism, culture). Tosi notes that the pandemic reshaped perceptions of distance, influencing artists' desire to become public figures with collective voices. Climatica will continue through 2025 at Alchemilla and conclude with a group exhibition at ART CITY 2026.
