Cleveland Museum of Art Begins Major Restoration of Historic Fine Arts Garden

The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) has announced the commencement of the first phase of a multiyear restoration project for its historic Fine Arts Garden, one of Cleveland's most celebrated public landscapes. The work, which begins on August 24, is part of the CMA Landscape Master Plan, an ambitious initiative aimed at preserving, restoring, and renewing the garden while enhancing accessibility, ecological sustainability, and the visitor experience. This marks the first major investment in the museum's historical landscape in nearly a century and represents a significant milestone in the CMA's long-term commitment to maintaining one of Northeast Ohio's most treasured outdoor civic spaces. The campus, designed by renowned architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., opened in 1928. The restoration will address the gardens, promenades, and terraces, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
