Cleo Fariselli on Presence, Experience, and Creative Freedom
Cleo Fariselli (born 1982, Cesenatico) graduated from Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 2007 and worked with artists including Jimmie Durham, Liliana Moro, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and The Otolith Group. Her practice spans photography, installation, video, and sculpture, emphasizing synthesis between thought and experience. She recently presented 'Dancing' at Almanac in Turin. In an interview with Davide Dal Sasso, Fariselli discusses creative freedom, the role of presence and absence in her work, and the importance of 'dosage' of the artist's presence to let the work speak. She describes art as giving form to non-verbalizable material and cites her 2008 work 'Me as a star' as emblematic of her interest in distance and disposition. Her works have been exhibited at Palazzo Reale in Milan, Prague Biennale, Museo Pecci in Prato, and Palazzo Fortuny in Venice.
