Clayton Korte completes Corten steel barn for Cayucos winery in California
Clayton Korte, a Texas-based architecture firm, has designed a 4,315-square-foot barn clad in Corten steel for storing vineyard equipment at a winery located in Cayucos, California. This barn serves as a transition between a Syrah vineyard and an adjacent oak forest, characterized by its gabled roof and expansive bays that highlight the vineyard. It features sliding and five bay doors to facilitate equipment access. Constructed with a wood frame, the building’s weathering steel exterior enhances fire resistance and minimizes upkeep. Inside, fluted-glazed doors and exposed wooden frames allow natural light to enter. The barn is energy independent, utilizing photovoltaic panels.
