Claudio Strinati appointed president of Italy's Superior Council for Cultural Heritage

Minister Alessandro Giuli has appointed 78-year-old Claudio Strinati, an art historian from Rome, as the new president of the Consiglio Superiore per i beni culturali e paesaggistici, with his term starting on June 15, 2026. Strinati, who holds a degree in Modern Literature with a focus on Art History from the University of Rome, began his professional journey in education and joined the Ministry for Cultural and Environmental Heritage in 1974. He served as the superintendent for the Roman museum hub from 1991 until 2009. A recognized expert in Renaissance and 17th-century art, he has organized exhibitions featuring Caravaggio, Raphael, Titian, Tiepolo, and Sebastiano del Piombo, while also contributing to Rai and publications like Il Giornale. The Council plays a key role in advising the Ministry on cultural heritage matters.
