Claudio Poleschi Opens New Gallery in San Marino with Bertozzi & Casoni

Claudio Poleschi inaugurates a new gallery space in San Marino on October 2, 2021, after relocating from Lucca where his historic gallery operated from 1973 to 2018. The new venue is located in the Banca di San Marino building, spanning 350 square meters with 150 square meters of exhibition space, plus storage, offices, and an additional 80-square-meter room for shows. The inaugural exhibition features the ceramic duo Bertozzi & Casoni (Giampaolo Bertozzi and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni), presenting works from the last two decades, including 'Composizione n.14' (2009) from the Italian Pavilion at the 2009 Venice Biennale, along with homages to Gauguin, van Gogh, Morandi, and Arcimboldo. Concurrently, Zeno Bertozzi, the 20-year-old son of Paolo Bertozzi, presents his own exhibition 'Con-tatto' featuring plaster works. Poleschi cited San Marino's quality of life, tax advantages, and personal connections as reasons for the move, noting that contemporary art in the microstate is 'all to be built.' He plans to focus on 1990s artists, a period he considers neglected.
