Claudio Noce's 'Padrenostro' premieres at Venice Film Festival

Claudio Noce's film 'Padrenostro' premiered in competition at the 77th Venice International Film Festival. The film is based on Noce's personal experience as a child in Rome during the spring of 1976, when his father, vice-questore Alfonso Noce, was targeted in an attack by the Nuclei Armati Proletari (NAP). The attack occurred on December 14, 1976, resulting in the wounding of Alfonso Noce, the death of police escort officer Prisco Palumbo, and the accidental killing of terrorist Martino Zichitella. In the film, the protagonist is a young blond boy named Valerio who witnesses the attack on his father. The story focuses on Valerio's encounter with a homeless older boy named Christian, whose friendship offers a neutral space amid fear and division. Pierfrancesco Favino plays Valerio's father, Prefect Alfonso Le Rose, a character originating from Riace, Calabria. The film explores themes of family, friendship, innocence, and trauma, with the Calabrian setting serving as a refuge. 'Padrenostro' was released in Italian cinemas on September 24, 2020, distributed by Vision Distribution. Noce dedicated the film to his father and family.
