Claudio Gobbi's 'An Atlas of Persistence' at Ca' Pesaro, Venice
Claudio Gobbi (Ancona, 1971) presents two photographic series at the Galleria Internazionale d'Arte Moderna – Ca' Pesaro in Venice. One series, 'Arménie ville,' comprises 64 images—some by Gobbi, others from archives, online sources, or commissioned—documenting the enduring Armenian church archetype across 1,500 years and distant geographies. The other series captures empty twentieth-century theaters in over twenty-five countries, reflecting collective cultural memory. The exhibition, titled 'An Atlas of Persistence,' explores permanence as a geographical anchor. Curated by Francesca Fabiani, it results from a collaboration between the Direzione regionale Musei Veneto and the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD) of the Ministero della Cultura, which has expanded its photographic promotion beyond Rome through the ICCD OFF SITE initiative. This is the first of a series of events across Venetian venues.
