Claudio Costa's Radical Archaeology: 'Metamagico' at PAV Turin
Claudio Costa, who often buried his works to return to origins, is the focus of 'Metamagico', a show at PAV – Parco Arte Vivente in Turin. Curated by Marco Scotini and produced with C+N Canepaneri and Archivio Claudio Costa, the exhibition positions Costa's output between art, anthropology, ecology and the memory of the living. Born in Tirana in 1942 and died in Genova in 1995, Costa treated clay, bones, wax, slate and plant fragments as biological archives and ritual traces. The display marks the first recognition of his eccentric research within art history's omissions. Installation photographs are by Antonio Jordan.
