Claudio Beorchia's participatory photo project at MuFoCo
Artist Claudio Beorchia (born 1979 in Vercelli) launches 'Tra cielo e terra', a participatory photography project inviting all Lombardy residents to photograph religious shrines, niches, and votive statues across the region. The initiative, curated by Matteo Balduzzi and supported by Fondazione Cariplo in collaboration with AESS – Archivio di Etnografia e Storia Sociale and Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo, aims to create a collective archive of the Lombard landscape and a census of sacred images. Participants use smartphones to shoot from the saint's perspective and the shrine itself, noting the saint's name and GPS coordinates. A 'Guida ai Santi' and a summer calendar of meetings at Lombard museums support the project. All collected photographs will be compiled into a book and exhibited at the Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea in Cinisello Balsamo in November.
