Claudia Schiffer Curates 1990s Fashion Photography Show at Kunstpalast Düsseldorf

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer will curate the exhibition "Fashion Photography from the 1990s" at Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, running from March 4 to June 13, 2021. The show features 120 photographs by Arthur Elgort, Corinne Day, Ellen von Unwerth, Herb Ritts, Juergen Teller, and the late Karl Lagerfeld, among others. Schiffer, who began her career after being discovered at Düsseldorf nightclub Checker in the late 1980s, has appeared on approximately 1,000 magazine covers and walked runways for over 30 years before retiring in 2009. The exhibition will also include unpublished materials from Schiffer's personal archive, such as videos, music, objects, and memorabilia, offering a behind-the-scenes look at legendary fashion shows and afterparties. Schiffer stated that while she fell in love with fashion in the 1980s, she learned what it truly was in the 1990s, a period when shoots lasted days and fashion stayed on front pages for weeks. She expressed excitement about sharing her personal journey and the work of great artists of the era.
