Claudia Losi and Valentina Furian VR Installations at Strozzina, Florence

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Strozzina in Florence is hosting 'Eating the Planet,' a dual exhibition featuring virtual reality works by Valentina Furian and Claudia Losi. Organized by Lo schermo dell’arte in collaboration with Palazzo Strozzi, the show runs from November 12 to 16, 2025, as part of the 18th edition of the Lo schermo dell’arte festival. The VR installations—Furian's 'BITE' and Losi's 'Anìmule vr. Il mondo sottile'—explore human-animal relationships and the tension between natural and human time. Furian, born in Venice in 1989, presents a canine figure, while Losi, born in Piacenza in 1971, offers a 16-minute, four-chapter video evoking earth, fire, air, and water. Four VR headsets are placed around a carpet, with narrators guiding viewers through an inner journey. The works were produced by Officine Creative of the University of Pavia, curated by Anna Calise, Stefano Conca Bonizzoni, and Elisabetta Modena, as part of the European PNRR ONFOODS project. The festival also includes screenings by directors Peng Zuquiang, Annie Siegel, Kahlil Joseph, and Matteo Frittelli, and involves institutions like Palazzo Strozzi, Gucci, and the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut. Most events are free thanks to Gucci's support.
