Claudia Cardinale’s Jewelry Collection to Be Auctioned at Christie’s Paris

Twenty pieces from the personal jewelry collection of late actress Claudia Cardinale will be sold at Christie’s Paris in the “Joaillerie Paris” online sale starting June 16. The jewels, from houses including Bulgari, Buccellati, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Cartier, were recently exhibited at Christie’s Geneva and will be on view in Paris from June 19 to 26, the sale’s final day. Cardinale, who died in September at age 87, was a style icon of Italian cinema’s golden age, known for films like Fellini’s 8½ and Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West. Highlights include a 1965 Bulgari Serpenti watch with enamel and sapphires, signed by Vacheron Constantin, which Cardinale owned; three Bulgari rings with cabochon rubies, star sapphires, and emeralds; a gold fox brooch; Buccellati floral brooches in gold, coral, diamonds, and sapphires; an antique butterfly brooch; a Van Cleef & Arpels gold powder compact and a hair ornament designed for her role in The Pink Panther (1963); and several Cartier timepieces, including a gold Tank watch. A portion of proceeds will support Fondazione Claudia Cardinale’s program for young women in visual arts.
