Claude Monet's Giverny House and Gardens Open for 2026 Season

cultural-heritage · 2026-05-28

Claude Monet's house and gardens in Giverny, France, are open from April 1 to November 1, 2026. The property, preserved as Monet left it in 1926, includes the pink house with green shutters, the Nymphéas studio, the sunflower-yellow dining room, and the Delft-blue tile kitchen. The gardens consist of the Clos Normand in front, dense and disorderly as Monet preferred, and the Jardin d'Eau behind, featuring the pond, Japanese bridge, wisteria, and weeping willows. Water lilies bloom from early June. The site opens at 9:30 am, with last admission at 5:30 pm; early morning or late afternoon visits are recommended to avoid crowds and capture the low light Monet favored. Monet's grave is located in the small cemetery of Sainte-Radegonde Church, a five-minute walk from the house, where he is buried with his two wives, Alice and Blanche. Reservations are strongly advised.
