Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore's Surrealist Resistance at CAM St. Louis
The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis is currently hosting an exhibition titled "And I Saw New Heavens and a New Earth," showcasing the works of Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore. Originally named Lucy Renee Mathilde Schwob and Suzanne Malherbe, respectively, the artists met as teenagers in Nantes and became stepsisters in 1917 before relocating to Paris in 1920. Their artistic creations, which include photocollages, photographs, and illustrations, are predominantly small, with most pieces measuring no larger than five by three inches.
