Clarissa Baldassarri's 'Exposure Value' Installation at Albisola

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Clarissa Baldassarri (b. 1994, Civitanova Marche) presents 'Exposure Value', a site-specific installation at Galleria Raffaella Cortese's Albisola space (Via Cristoforo Colombo 54). The work uses a camera and projector to capture and transmit a red wooden window onto a glass door in real time, manipulating exposure to create an evanescent experience. The project explores the distinction between 'esporre' (to expose) and 'esibire' (to exhibit), with Baldassarri emphasizing the complexity of exposure as an intimate, risky action. The window references a 18th-century Genoese tax on windows, which led to trompe-l'œil painted windows. The Albisola venue hosts emerging artists each summer in collaboration with a young gallery. Baldassarri's gallerist Gian Marco Casini (since 2017) and Raffaella Cortese discuss the natural connections formed. Baldassarri will have her fourth solo show at Casini's new Livorno space in September 2024, followed by a two-month residency at Horanggasy Creative Studio in South Korea researching glossolalia. Cortese plans a spring 2025 show for the gallery's 30th anniversary, an autumn season with Alejandro Cesarco, and a summer 2025 collaboration with a foreign gallery. Liliana Moro will be invited for the first 2025 season.
