Clara Kim named chief curator at LA MOCA
Clara Kim has been appointed director of curatorial affairs and chief curator at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (LA MOCA). Born in Seoul and raised in the greater Los Angeles area, Kim returns to her hometown after serving as senior curator of international art at Tate Modern since 2006. At Tate, she organized a major 2010 survey of Steve McQueen and Kara Walker's 2019 Turbine Hall commission, Fons Americanus. Her previous roles include positions at REDCAT, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Kim envisions LA MOCA as 'locally rooted' while maintaining an international perspective, emphasizing connections and histories embedded in the city. She will assume her role on September 1.
