Claire Doherty Named Director of Bristol's Arnolfini

Arnolfini in Bristol has appointed Claire Doherty as its new leader, succeeding Kate Brindley, who left last year to take on the role of director of collections and exhibitions at Chatsworth House. Doherty, who founded the public art commissioning organization Situations in 2002, is currently its head. Her previous curatorial roles include positions at FACT in Liverpool and Ikon in Birmingham. In 2009, she was honored with a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Award. Recent projects commissioned by Situations have showcased works from artists such as Theaster Gates, Michael Sailstorferr, Hew Locke, and Alex Hartley. The announcement of her appointment was made by the Bristol-based non-profit organization.
