Civic Grid's Architectural Battery Prototype in Cannington, Ontario

Civic Grid, a startup based in Toronto, has introduced its inaugural architectural battery in Cannington, Ontario, Canada. This prototype, crafted by architects Jack Self and Josh Harskamp, features a monolithic design installed in a revamped square. It operates by charging overnight when energy costs are lower and discharging during the day to enhance electrification and grid capacity. The system boasts a 60 kWh energy capacity, offers seating and public charging, supports local charitable organizations, and can supply power during outages.
