Città della Scienza Reopens in Naples with Corporea and 3D Planetarium
Naples' Città della Scienza reopens on March 19 with two major new facilities: Corporea, Italy's first interactive museum dedicated to the human body, and a 3D planetarium with a record-breaking 20-meter dome. The Science Centre was partially destroyed by a fire four years ago. Corporea spans over 5,000 square meters across three levels, featuring 14 thematic islands with immersive videos, virtual reality, games, and multimedia. Open labs offer experimental activities. The exhibition incorporates archaeological artifacts from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and other Campanian museums, linking them to themes like the musculoskeletal system and human sexuality. The planetarium seats 120 and uses cutting-edge technology for live shows on astronomy. The project was funded by over 400,000 donors who raised approximately €2 million, with contributions from citizens, associations, schools, and local businesses.
