Cioni, Maranò, Fato explore memory and daily life at Panorama in Monopoli

The Panorama exhibition in Monopoli, curated by Vincenzo de Bellis and promoted by the Italics galleries consortium, presents three works by Adelaide Cioni, Franca Maranò, and Matteo Fato until September 4. Cioni's 'À propos de Bacchelli 5' (2015) at Complesso di S. Leonardo | P420, Bologna, projects 240 slides onto three screens, each etched with outlines of objects from her childhood home, materializing memory before departure. Maranò's 'Abiti mentali' (1977) at Complesso di S. Leonardo | Richard Saulton Gallery, London-Rome, features medieval canvas, red cloth, and black cotton garments first shown at Galleria Centrosei in Bari, merging painting, sculpture, performance, and installation as wearable 'mental habits' embodying intellectual process. Fato's 'senza tempeste, senza naufragio e senza alcun merito nostro' (2022) at Chiesetta di S. Giovanni | Monitor, Rome-Lisbon-Pereto, traces fireworks from Monopoli's Madonna della Madia festival, blending collective memory with personal autobiography; a small painting 'Souvenir' depicts his parents' hands forming a raft, referencing the local legend of the cathedral roof. The work includes a text by Gianni Carrera, serving as both anticipation and protective vessel.
