Cindy Sherman Retrospective at CAPC Bordeaux
A retrospective of Cindy Sherman's work is on view at the CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux. The exhibition presents not only her photographs but also the extensive theoretical and critical texts that have accompanied them since the early 1980s. Sherman's work confronts the postmodernist notion that the author is immediately recognizable in their work with the ambiguity of being the model but not the subject of her photographs, inviting viewers to recognize that only fictions of the self exist.
