Cindy Chao Launches Four Seasons Leaf and Dragonfly Brooches for 20th Anniversary
Cindy Chao The Art Jewel celebrates its 20th anniversary with the launch of the Four Seasons Leaf and Dragonfly brooches, inspired by the fragility of nature. Founded in 2004, Chao's brand bridges art and jewelry-making. In 2021, she became the first Asian jewelry artist to receive the Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature. Her Black Label Masterpiece Collection is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. She collaborated with École de Haute Joaillerie students on a wax sculpture for the Louvre. The Four Seasons Leaf brooch, reimagined for the anniversary, required a dozen European craft masters and is forged from titanium with a melting point of 1668°C, taking three times longer to set than 18K gold. Each Leaf brooch contains 1500 gemstones on a 1.77 mm-thick titanium base, weighing only 22 grams. The Dragonfly brooch features 13 gemstones in 50 colors, using gold, ox-horn, titanium, and light-activated resin. The Annual Butterfly series, produced since 2008, continues as a symbol of Chao's artistic evolution.
