Cicciolina plays chess to save Frigolandia cultural center

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

On July 25, 2021, Ilona Staller, famously known as Cicciolina, will participate in a chess match at Giardini Rosa e Cecilia Caselli Moretti in Perugia to aid Frigolandia, an artistic hub in Giano dell'Umbria that is at risk of eviction. Established by Vincenzo Sparagna, Frigolandia features "Frigidaire," "Il Nuovo Male," a graphics studio, and the Museo dell'Arte Maivista (MAM). Its collection includes works from notable authors such as Pazienza and Liberatore. Staller, a close associate of Sparagna, graced the cover of "Frigidaire" in 1985 and is advocating for crowdfunding to preserve Frigolandia. She also reminisces about her diverse career in cinema, radio, and politics, including her election to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in 1987. Her son, Ludwig, is an artist and the child of Jeff Koons.
