Ciao Maschio: Exhibition on Masculinity at Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome

The Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome is currently hosting the exhibition 'Ciao Maschio: Volto, potere e identità dell'uomo contemporaneo' as part of the Estate Romana 2021 initiative. This showcase, curated by Arianna Angelelli and Claudio Crescentini, presents more than 100 pieces from both public and private collections, tracing the transformation of male imagery from the late 19th century to today. Featured artists include Andy Warhol, Gilbert & George, and Mario Schifano, among others. The exhibition delves into masculinity through the lenses of face, power, and identity, accompanied by a catalogue from Gangemi editore that includes essays from various writers. Additionally, outdoor events, discussions, and readings will take place from July to October 2021, broadening the conversation to encompass poetry, literature, and theater.
