Chroniques des imaginaires numériques Biennale Debuts in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille
The biennial event formerly known as Seconde Nature has been rebranded as Chroniques des imaginaires numériques, taking place from November 9 to December 15, 2018, across multiple venues in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. The first edition is curated by Mathieu Vabre and features Quebec as the guest of honor for a professional meeting. At The Camp, Rocio Berenguer's performance "Ergonomics" explores the fusion of wellness and innovation, critiquing the corporate aesthetic of a tech-driven future. HeeWon Lee's virtual reality piece collects testimonies of Korean comfort women from World War II, offering a poignant journey. At Gallifet Art Center, Florian Schönerstedt's "Révolution au mètre carré" allows viewers to virtually throw cobblestones, referencing the 1968 protests. The Fondation Vasarely hosts the Gamerz festival with Harm van den Dorpel's "Resurrection" series animating sleeping youths. At Galerie des Grands Bains Douches, Quentin Destieu's "Master/Slave" exhibition includes "À cœur ouvert," a functional enlarged model of the Intel 4004 microprocessor. The flagship exhibition "Supervisions" at Friche Belle de Mai features Alain Josseau's "Automatic War," using scale models and drones to depict dehumanized warfare. Finally, Félicie d'Estienne d'Orves and Éliane Radigue's "Continuum" presents a meditative audiovisual installation inspired by Martian sunsets and Radigue's composition "Koume."
