Christopher Wool and Katy Siegel Curate Historical Exhibition on Upper East Side
A historical exhibition curated by Katy Siegel and Christopher Wool was presented earlier this season on the Upper East Side. The show, described as small but striking, included still-life portraits of poetry by a young artist, with its run extended to February 22. Four writers contributed their thoughts on the painter's retrospective. Another exhibition, "Abstraction After Warhol," featured 11 painters, most of whom did not use brushes. Additionally, "Mixed Use, Manhattan: Photography and Related Practices" was held at the Reina Sofia in Madrid from June 10 to September 2, 2010. In the 1980s, when painting was often declared dead, numerous group shows focused on abstraction.
