Christo's Mastaba Installation at Fondation Maeght
Christo has inaugurated a new exhibition at Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Provence, showcasing 50 years of work with his late wife Jeanne-Claude through sculptures, sketches, and photographs. The centerpiece is a site-specific version of the Mastaba installation in the Cour Giacometti, inspired by ancient Egyptian tombs and originally conceived for the desert of Abu Dhabi using oil barrels. The scaled-down version measures 9 meters high, 17 meters long, and 9 meters wide, with a 60-degree angle that Christo described as "a staircase to heaven." The exhibition runs until November 27. Meanwhile, Christo's highly anticipated installation The Floating Piers on Lake Iseo opens June 18, allowing visitors to walk on water.
