Christo’s Floating Walkway on Lake Iseo, San Gimignano Tower Restoration, and Sgarbi’s Salò Show
Christo will install a three-kilometer saffron-yellow floating walkway on Lake Iseo from June 18 to July 3, 2016, funded by the artist through sales of models and preparatory drawings at a cost of $15 million. A factory in Brescia is producing 200,000 polyethylene cubes to support the fabric. The walkway will pass through the center of Sulzano before extending onto the lake. In San Gimignano, Torre e Casa Campateli, the only private tower house in the UNESCO-listed city, has become public property after a donation by owner Lydia Campateli, restored by FAI. Vittorio Sgarbi announced his exhibition "Da Giotto a De Chirico" at the MuSa museum in Salò, which opened in June 2015 but was effectively inaugurated with this show.
