Christie's to auction Thessa Herold's collection
Christie's will auction the collection of Thessa Herold, a prominent Parisian gallerist and champion of the avant-garde. The sale, titled 'Thessa Herold, une femme d'intuition,' runs online from 22 May to 2 June. Herold, born in Malaga to a Spanish mother and French father, founded Galerie de Seine in 1970 with her husband Jacques-Yves Herold in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. In 1993, she opened Galerie Thessa Herold in the Marais, presenting historical avant-garde artists—especially Surrealists—alongside emerging contemporaries.
