Christie's Milano Online Sale Totals €6.9M, Led by Fontana and Dorazio

Christie's Milano held its 20th/21st Century Online Sale from May 25 to June 16, 2022, split into two sessions. The auction achieved a total of €6,895,122, with many lots selling well above low estimates. In the first session, Lucio Fontana's Concetto Spaziale, Attesa (1964) sold for €942,000, while his gold sculpture Concetto Spaziale (1962) reached €240,000 (triple the low estimate). Piero Dorazio's Visita di Venere (1962) set a record at €756,000, far exceeding its €260,000 low estimate. Alighiero Boetti's Segno e disegno (1979) sold for €302,400, three times the low estimate. Mario Schifano's Parte Superiore (1964) exceeded €250,000, and Ettore Spalletti's Azzurro (2016) doubled its low estimate to €201,600. The second session featured Tancredi's Senza Titolo (1952) at €52,920, Renato Guttuso's Cactus (1976) at €44,100, and Sandro Chia's Lonely Ocean (2011) at €44,100. International artists also performed well: Invader's Mars (2005) sold for €100,800, Christo's The Wall (Project for a Wrapped Roman Wall) (1974) for €81,900, Sam Francis's Green (1967) for €100,800, and works by Wilfredo Lam and Gerhard Richter exceeded high estimates.
