Christie's and Sotheby's London Evening Sales Total £286 Million

On February 27 and 28, Christie's and Sotheby's conducted evening auctions in London, focusing on Impressionist and Surrealist art. Christie's featured 65 pieces, showcasing artists such as Mirò, Magritte, and Picasso, with standout sales including Picasso’s 'Mousquetaire et nu assis' fetching £12 million and 'Figure' at £7.2 million. Sotheby's presented 26 Impressionist works, achieving a European record with Picasso’s 'Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée' sold for £44 million. Christie's total sales approached £150 million (78% sell-through), while Sotheby's reached £136 million (76.6% sell-through). Significant sales also included Chagall's 'Le village bleu' at £3.1 million and Boccioni’s record £7.9 million, with unsold pieces from Braque and Dalì.
