Christiane Vleugels Plans Monumental Triptych 'The Custodian' for 2028

Belgian hyperrealist and magical realist painter Christiane Vleugels, born and raised in Belgium, is planning a monumental triptych titled 'The Custodian' to begin in 2028. The work, conceived as her artistic apotheosis, will depict the fallen Tree of Life at approximately 260 by 660 centimeters. Vleugels studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Schoten and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, later influenced by Russian artists and magical realism. A German aristocrat discovered her work, leading to professional opportunities and access to professional models. In 2013, she joined the Ibex Masterpiece Project (later Ibex Masters), which allowed her to refine her photorealistic skills over nearly ten years. Her paintings often feature women exploring resilience, vulnerability, and introspection, and she works primarily in oil on canvas, board, and aluminium panels. Key works include 'Timeless' and 'Unity'. Her studio, separate from her home, is her favorite environment for daily practice.
