Christiane Rekade Debuts at Merano Arte with 'Exhibition Paintings'

Christiane Rekade, the Swiss curator who replaced Valerio Dehò after 15 years amid some controversy, has curated her first exhibition as artistic director of Merano Arte. Titled 'Exhibition paintings', the show runs from February 4 to April 17, 2017, at the art center in Merano. It features six international artists—Charles Avery, Paolo Chiasera, Martin Pohl, Dorothy Miller, Lea von Wintzingerode, and Amelie von Wulffen—who share an interpretation of painting as a means to expand the concept of exhibition and propose alternatives to the current situation. The exhibition arises from the observation that in recent years, a growing number of artists have reflected on the medium of painting and possible approaches to it.
