Christiane Löhr Wins 19th Pino Pascali Prize

award · 2026-05-05

Christiane Löhr, a German artist and former student of Jannis Kounellis, has been awarded the 19th edition of the Premio Pascali. The jury, composed of Rosalba Branà (director of the Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali), Antonio Frugis, and Dobrila Denegri, selected Löhr for her ethereal installations made from horsehair, dog hair, and seeds of ivy, poplar, burdock, dandelion, and wild thistle. Her work, which creates geometric microcosms where light and space become integral, is described by Frugis as allowing viewers to project into a microscopic dimension and feel nature's breath. Löhr's approach diverges from the mythopoetic use of synthetic materials by Pino Pascali, instead using exclusively organic materials and drawing inspiration from late 19th-century German naturalism. The exhibition is on view at the Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare until January 29, 2017.
