Christian Levett's Femmes Artistes Musée Mougins Reopens, Showcasing Female Artists from Impressionism to Contemporary

Christian Levett, a former hedge-fund manager from Britain, has redirected his collecting interests towards female artists in the last ten years. In 2024, his private museum in Mougins, France, reopened as the Femmes Artistes Musée Mougins (FAMM), showcasing approximately one hundred artworks by women, including an Impressionist piece from the 1890s by Blanche Hoschedé-Monet and contemporary works by Sarah Lucas. Levett's entire collection comprises around 1,700 pieces, with 600 specifically featuring female artists. Notable works include Lee Krasner's 1956 Prophecy and Elaine de Kooning's 1963 Burghers of Amsterdam Avenue. Over the past 15 years, he has supported more than 40 significant exhibitions and funds various art initiatives. An exhibition curated by Lubaina Himid is currently on display at ICA London from 24 June to 7 September.
