Christian Lacroix's Dazzling Drawings Exhibition at Musée Réattu in Arles Reveals the Fashion Designer's Hidden Talents
Christian Lacroix, the flamboyant couturier known for opulent, Provence-inspired silhouettes, is also a talented draughtsman. From 4 July to 4 October 2026, the Musée Réattu in Arles exhibits his drawings in 'Christian Lacroix - Dessins, gribouillages et graffitis'. Featuring 69 sketches donated to the museum between 2015 and 2024, plus loans, the show spans his diverse techniques: pencil, felt-tip, ink, gouache, acrylic, graphics tablet, and collage. Lacroix now designs for theater and opera. In a 2010 L'Express interview, he said he never wanted to be a painter, but always drew for a project. In 2025, he called drawing 'a defensive weapon' and said his life needed to be a theatre.
