Christian Fogarolli's 'Decade' Explores Norms and Deviance at Galleria Civica di Trento

Christian Fogarolli's exhibition 'Decade' at Galleria Civica di Trento examines the boundary between normality and deviance, using psychiatry as a symbol of social construction. The show features works across sculpture, photography, painting, and video, including a ready-made of the DSM manual, archival photographs, and installations where subjects hang like meat. Fogarolli, born in Trento in 1983 and a Documenta participant, presents a non-retrospective installation that blends engaged content with effective form. Works incorporate medicinal pills, historical busts, and botanical metaphors. A project traces 48 Trentino citizens transferred to a Prague asylum during WWI. Portraits of Artaud and Foucault appear in watercolors. The exhibition runs at Galleria Civica di Trento in 2023.
