Christian Fogarolli Reconstructs 1885 Brain Model for Phantom Models III at Turin's Museo di Anatomia

Christian Fogarolli, an artist from Trentino born in 1983, is in the process of recreating a brain model originally developed in 1885 by anatomist Aeby and engineer Büchi. His initiative, titled Phantom Model, seeks to bring back historical models that were once provided to more than twenty medical institutions. The project began in Amsterdam at the De Appel arts centre and the Vrolik Museum. Recently, he showcased his work at the fifth Moscow International Biennale for young art, collaborating with NCCA and MMOMA. From November 3 to December 15, 2016, Phantom Models III will be displayed at the Museo di Anatomia Umana Luigi Rolando in Turin, the only Italian venue for this exhibition. Fogarolli's art delves into themes of memory, identity, and the influence of modern processes on how memories are formed. He also intends to conduct research trips to Prague, Paris, and Dresden in the future.
