Christian Caliandro critiques 'fighetta' art's fear of rebellion
In a two-part article featured on Artribune, art historian Christian Caliandro (born 1979) contends that modern 'fighetta' art exhibits a fear of defiance. He references Mark Fisher's 2005 work 'Perché k?' (published in Italian in 'Scegli le tue armi. Scritti sulla musica / k-punk 3', minimum fax, Rome 2021, p. 25), highlighting a decline in resolve since the punk movement of the 1970s. The 'fighetto' artist shuns controversy, placing career ambitions above idealistic pursuits, and is apprehensive about being labeled a 'loser' (sfigato). In the second installment (30 December 2022), Caliandro invokes Philip K. Dick's 'Exegesis' (1974-1976, published in Italian by Fanucci Editore, Rome 2015, p. 35) to explore the disintegration of linear time, crucial for grasping contemporary cultural dynamics.
