Christian Boros and Karen Lohmann Launch Distanz Verlag Publishing Venture with Uta Grosenick
Christian Boros and Karen Lohmann have cofounded Distanz Verlag, a publishing enterprise joined by Uta Grosenick, editor of Taschen's Art Now series. The startup has already produced meticulously designed hardcover survey and monograph catalogues. Angelika Taschen will join the venture next year, departing from the company bearing her ex-husband's family name. Meanwhile, Lohmann has taken on the role of VIP coordinator for Art Basel in Germany. Boros maintains his dual identity as both a media magnate and art collector, with his partner Lohmann serving as adviser. Their private foundation occupies a 3,000 square meter former Berlin S&M club that displays portions of their sculpture collection. This brutalist gallery space continues to draw a consistent flow of prebooked visitors. The publishing initiative represents a serious undertaking rather than a vanity project.
