Chrissy Abria: Bridging Classical Realism and Contemporary Identity

Chrissy Abria, a Filipino-German artist, merges traditional oil painting techniques with contemporary themes of identity and cultural experiences. Born in the Philippines, she moved to Germany at nine, growing up in a challenging environment marked by poverty and a strict religious upbringing. Although she began her career in electrical engineering, everything changed for her in 2015 with the birth of her daughter, reigniting her passion for art. She refined her classical painting skills at an art school in the Netherlands and deepened her knowledge at the Fine Art Academy in Germany, learning from esteemed realist artists. Her artwork, such as Skull Self-Portrait, showcases her Filipino roots and highlights themes of freedom and empathy.
