Chitra Ganesh's first UK institutional solo show at Baltic Centre

The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, UK, is currently presenting 'Journey to the Great Below,' marking the first significant solo exhibition by Brooklyn artist Chitra Ganesh in a UK venue. This exhibition showcases a new animation, site-specific wall drawing, newly commissioned sculptures, as well as recent paintings, prints, and mixed media pieces. Over a span of twenty-five years, Ganesh has cultivated a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses wall drawings, animation, collage, installation, and sculpture. Her artistic language is influenced by surrealism, science fiction, anime, and South Asian visual traditions, including ancient sculptures and Indian comics, shaped by her background in literature, semiotics, and contemporary social theory.
