Chiquita House returns to Milan with Sebastian Curi's immersive design
For the 2025 Fuorisalone, Chiquita has opened the Chiquita House at Via San Marco 22 in Milan's Brera district, an immersive space designed by Argentine graphic designer and illustrator Sebastian Curi. The installation, running from April 7 to 13, 2025, succeeds the work of Brazilian pop artist Romero Britto. Curi, born in Buenos Aires in 1986 and now based in Los Angeles, has filled the rooms with interactive environments inspired by his illustrations, which depict vibrant, everyday scenes. His campaign for Chiquita, titled Pop by Nature, places bananas at the center of contemporary life—people walking dogs, scrolling phones, or grabbing snacks. Visitors can turn themselves into anthropomorphic bananas via a digital wall or create custom stickers. Curi, who prefers drawing and painting on paper to digital tools, has collaborated with Apple, Nike, Zara, and The New York Times. His influences range from Stuart Davis, Ellsworth Kelly, and Keith Haring to Diego Rivera's murals and Latin American color sensibilities. This is not his first large-scale immersive project; he previously transformed the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires with love-themed illustrations applied to the facade, clothing, and objects.
