Chinese Video Art Explores Liquid Society at Fondazione Museo Pascali

exhibition · 2026-05-05

At the Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare, there's a collective exhibition called 'Tutorials – Immagini in movimento e istruzioni per l’uso dalla Cina,' running until June 26, 2016. Rosalba Branà is directing it, while Mariagrazia Costantino, who previously worked with OCAT Shanghai, is curating. This exhibition features the work of thirteen emerging artists from China's second post-Mao generation. It explores the impact of new media on societal consciousness, using video art to reinterpret traditional Confucian relationships through online tutorials. Notable pieces include Fang Lu's 'No World' and Liu Chuang's 'BBR1 (No.1 of Blossom Bud Restrainer).' The featured artists include Guan Xiao, Li Ming, and Xu Zhen (MadeIn Company), among others, who avoid direct political messages unlike Ai Weiwei.
