The Chinese Film Festival in France, one of the world's most important and internationally influential festivals dedicated to Chinese cinema, will run from May 10 to June 30, 2026, across ten French cities. The festival opens in Paris on May 10 and continues in Strasbourg, Lyon, Marseille, Cannes, Brest, Montargis, and overseas territories La Réunion and New Caledonia. Founded in 2011 by the Centre culturel de Chine à Paris, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China, and the Pathé group, the festival features four main sections: New Releases, Classic Films, Documentaries, and Virtual Cinema, plus a thematic exhibition titled "120 Years of Chinese Cinema." The New Releases section includes commercial, realistic, and cultural films such as "Le Studio photo de Nankin," "Escadron 3," "Nobody," "The Lychee Road," "Like a Rolling Stone," "Shen Zhou 13," "Curious Tales of a Temple," and "Viva la vida." The Classic Films section honors the 120th anniversary of director Fei Mu's birth with masterpieces like "La Divine" and "Enfants de Chine." Documentaries explore historical, artistic, and humanistic themes. The Virtual Cinema section features works like "Guardian Warriors of Longmen," expanding cinematic boundaries in the digital age. Opening night guests include Jean-Jacques Annaud, Anne Fontaine, and honorary guest Isabelle Huppert.
