Chinese Artists Donate Nearly 2,000 Protective Suits to Italian Hospitals

other · 2026-04-27

So, during the COVID-19 crisis, a collective of artists and cultural figures from China donated over 1,500 protective suits to hospitals in Lombardy, Italy. This project was led by the Jiang Dou Team along with Dai Ying, Liu Gang, Zhang Xiaolong, Zhang Jianing, and the 99' BBI Charity Group from the Communication University of China. Manuela Lietti, an Italian curator based in China, was instrumental in organizing this initiative. Originally meant for Wuhan, the suits were stuck in a warehouse in Frankfurt due to export bans in Germany. With help from the Italian Embassy in Berlin, the Frankfurt Consulate General, Generali Deutschland, and Air Dolomiti, the suits made it to Italy, highlighting a spirit of global cooperation in healthcare.
